Rhinebeck Greek Revival Home

After a nineteenth-century house on this Rhinebeck site was destroyed by fire, Crisp Architects designed a new Greek Revival home on the original footprint. Drawing on details from the former residence and on the Greek Revival tradition found in Rhinebeck and the surrounding Hudson Valley, the design creates a larger, more livable home for the owners while remaining grounded in the architectural history of the region. The result is a house that honors what was lost while feeling fully at home in the present.

Jimmy designed our home, from the ground up, and he and Lin Chamberlain built it. We could not be happier. I found Crisp Architects' website many years ago, forging our dream of hiring Jimmy Crisp to design our hypothetical addition to our small house built in 1785. Ten years later, with a comparatively small budget than their norm, located across the river, in Orange County, New York, I wrote an email to ask if we were worthy.
