Family Space

Our clients asked us to transform the style and layout of their residence in Rhinebeck, New York and provide their growing family a place to gather. In my family, and most families I know, the favorite places to gather are in the kitchen and on the porch. We added a kitchen/family room, a front porch, a back porch and an all important mud room that provides a clean and organized entry to the house. We are so pleased to hear that these new spaces have become the hub and the heart of their home.

Jimmy designed our home, from the ground up, and he and Lin Chamberlain built it. We could not be happier. It was a wonderful and easy experience working with them, and the result is a great, comfortable, and charming home. I found Crisp Architects' website many years ago, forging our dream of hiring Jimmy Crisp to design our hypothetical addition to our small house built in 1785. Ten years later, with a comparatively small budget than their norm, located across the river, in Orange County, New York, I wrote an email to ask if we were worthy. Almost immediately, I was treated to a personal phone call from Jimmy Crisp, and began to feel the kind, white glove treatment they naturally provide.
